The Empowerment Process is not about fixing; it’s about coming into alignment with yourself. By listening to your thoughts and responses to life’s situations, and paying attention to what you hear, you give yourself the opportunity to make positive changes. You can then flow with a bigger energy that serves your well-being, your ease, and comfort in life.
Although support can come from outside influences – your spouse, your children, your community, even the Divine realm – in the end, you’ll need to embrace the support and strength within. It’s the first step of the Empowerment Process. We start by grounding, being present and feeling supported in our body.
Stories from the past that don’t serve
We all have core limiting beliefs that don’t serve us. They compromise the energy system. These beliefs, generally translated as “stories” about ourselves and others, are our own creations that justify or explain away the discomfort. If we really want to make any changes we’ll need to question them and enter into the truth of our reality. When we do listen without the static of disharmonious thoughts from the past, our inner guidance will become readily available pointing in a direction of greater power. The past is always a lesser state of evolution. The present is where we live most fully and when we do, the future always becomes the present.
A sense of “not being good enough,” or feeling “there is something wrong with me” are examples of beliefs that substantiate and even create uncomfortable feelings. The color and fuel all of our emotions. Once these feelings are released, we always experience a huge relief. The suffering will dissipate and allow room for a more powerful energy, one for living more fully in the present.
Limitations caused by projecting into the future
Just as holding on to old past hurts keeps you limited in your present energy, projection into the future based on the old story keeps fear lively. Since it was an uncomfortable experience in the past, you imagine it will happen again.
Projection elicits worry and an undue anticipation that builds a vision of exactly what we don’t want. If there is an attachment to a definition of success, then we are hanging on to a static concept of who we think we are and need to be. There is a resistance real growth, a never-ending refinement of consciousness which plays out here in the physical, on the planet.
If we can appreciate and enjoy what we have and are now, we will move out of the mode of continually being a seeker. If we don’t, fulfillment will always be at arms’ length.
Listen to your body and tune into the present
In order to transform, creating positive change and moving out of discomfort, it’s essential to be present. Recognize what is really going on by listening to your body. It carries the sense of truth, a natural sensitivity that you need to listen to right now. Often we ignore the body’s signals until it screams at us in pain. However, the messages were there long before the pain.
Difficult experiences causing emotional pain are often felt as physical pain or illness. They are best considered an important opportunity for positive change. It’s as if you are given the chance to open a door to discover the quality you’ll need for healing. Whether you are feeling afraid, lack, guilt or grief from loss, the challenge actually becomes the opportunity when you pay attention. Your heart can then open to a greater capacity to courageously come out of your own suffering.
