Everyone has times when they become afraid. Often it has nothing to do with a present situation, but is a memory from a past event that becomes a future projection.
What is happening when you become afraid?
You’ll find that when you respond with fear, when you feel “afraid,” you have lost control of what is happening. People tend to react as if the experience is a new threat, that they’ve never been there before or, if they have, it didn’t work out well. We tend to honor that which is familiar. But, remember, the past is done with, and the future is the creation of the now. The only things you can really control are your present responses and reactions. In the well-known words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, “There is nothing to fear but fear itself.”
Face your fears; you are bigger than they are.
Fear, a natural response to physical danger, is more often than not, self-created. Although it makes sense to be afraid to fail, some people are actually afraid to succeed. You may fear love because you fear being rejected. You may fear being generous because you are afraid you won’t have enough. You may be afraid to share your thoughts or feelings at the risk of appearing wrong. And, you may be afraid to trust your feelings and intuitive guidance if you are encumbered by self-doubt and insecurity.
Fear of loss creates anxiety. Loss of money, status, health, love, and even life itself. How can you possibly feel safe if you feel afraid? The result of feeling unsafe is that you’ll want to avoid the uncomfortable feeling, sometimes at no small cost.
However, on the up side, you will discover that when you do take the risk to try something new, whether it be a job, a new home base, a new relationship, a new protocol for health, or even a transformational healing process in order to let go and dissipate unwanted fears, the learning pays off in your life’s journey. Jim Carrey remarks in his willingness to give something new a try, “You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.” Fear seeks to place limits on what you believe you can achieve; be patient and know you can take a risk and have the courage to fulfill your desired change. Confidence will grow as you continue to learn and evaluate your new situation. Decision making is not always an easy task. And, it’s ok to act even if you are feeling afraid as long as you follow your intuitive guidance.
Shift Your Perspective and Empower Yourself with EP
Once you identify and acknowledge where you respond out of fear AND you are willing to change, following the Empowerment Process is easy, and positive change is secured.
Your opportunity for transformation is the exact step you’ll need in order to find courage to take a risk. You want to start with this willingness to shift your energy and identify what it is that you are willing to change. All of your dis-empowering beliefs keeping your fears lively can be addressed and shifted to a positive energy. Then you can make clear decisions and fulfill your unmet needs. Once your fearful beliefs are identified, you can literally shift your perspective in order to not only meet your challenge, but attain the adaptability and flexibility to roll with change. The fear of “not knowing” is released, and you can step forward with confidence in that “newness.” You will come to neutral emotion where what originally felt “risky” becomes life’s adventure. Then you can put your full energy into progress. It’s amazing to watch the discomfort leave and peace enter your physiology as you come to your empowering statement and visualize its fulfillment.
An important part of the Empowerment Process, the Emotional Pathway Clearing, goes deep into your heart, into feelings you’ve buried or controlled to get through life so that you can become unburdened of their affect. They simply melt. Once you start to trust your ability and commit to staying positive in the midst of a dark period, the results are always healing.
